Looking to buy or sell used Universal Machine Centres?
Here at Asset-Trade you can find high quality second hand Universal Machine Centres of well known brands like DMG, HERMLE, GROB, AXON, POS, MIKRON, and many more.
The universal machine center is similar to a horizontal machining center, but the spindle shaft can be continuously tilted from a horizontal position to a vertical position under computer control.
Universal machining centers are the flexible all-rounders among milling machines as they have a vertical and horizontal milling spindle and can be expanded in many ways.
Complex geometries requiring complex machining can now be machined with multiple spindles. Simultaneous 5-axis machining on several multi-spindle machining centers is also possible and has proven itself today. For complex castings (aluminum or steel), machining usually takes several minutes or even several hours. Production with multi-spindle machining centers therefore makes it possible to significantly increase throughput depending on the area required by the machine.
We offer a series of universal machining centers which proven technology for multiple market segments that are often use for automotive, aircraft and medical parts.

A Universal Machining Centre or (UMC) is a modern piece of machinery which is a hybrid device developed mainly by the Mitsubishi Heavy Industry or (MHI) as it consists of both the parts of a Horizontal Machining Centre (HMC) as well as a Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) making it a multipurpose device as it can be used for drilling, milling, turning and as well as boring. By using a vast range of specialized tools, the UMC facilitates a very accurate and rapid production of metal components. By feeding specialized tools into the machining centre, multiple work pieces can be achieved at the same time through a pre-programmed sequence. The sophisticated design enables the machine to produce a vast majority of parts without the consideration of its size or its orientation.
Processing of Universal machining centre
A modern UMC has the capacity to store from a general capacity of 20 – 40 from 200 or more individual parts. Depending on the type of the machine there can be multiple axes attached to machine on which different tools can be attached for different purposes like for milling, water jet or laser cutting of a work piece. The joints and the axels of the UMC are built to withstand very high forces and are robust in nature to increase productivity. As these machines are fully automated, hence very costly and essential in the process of manufacturing delicate and accurate parts, regular cleaning and maintenance by a professional staff should be made to ensure the quality as well as the performance delivered by the machine to work over a long period of time hence increasing the longevity of the machine.
Where, and for what, machine tools in Universal machining centre are used?
A UMC is also called a mother machine as because it helps to build another machine, hence making these machining centres pretty expensive and are generally used by those manufacturers who needs accurate and precise processing of metal. UMC or Universal Machining Centres are generally used to manufacture work pieces for the transport industry as well as engineering equipment. Nowadays aerospace and automotive industries are also using this machinery to build high end components for their products.
Who produces the machines for Universal machining centre
As these machines are very important to make components for many large scale manufacturers, many manufacturers are building these high precision and fully automatic machining centres to ease the work in these industries. Companies like the DMG, HERMLE Machine Company ,CNC manufacturing centres, GROB, HÜLLER-HILLE, Heckler and Koch, HOMA etc., are one of the biggest and most renowned manufacturers and wholesale distributors for these and many similar type of machinery.
Advantages of buying used universal machining centers machines
Industrial machines must be economical and reliable.
The advantages of making these machines are that they are very tough in nature in terms of longevity and can provide many years of accurate and precise service only through regular maintenance with proper procedures and experienced staff. These machines are fully automatic and require very little manpower. The last but not the least advantage is that they can produce several components at the same time and several operations such as drilling, milling, boring, etc. can be performed simultaneously.
In addition to machining centers with one work spindle, there are more and more machining centers with multiple spindles. These machining centers then have two, three or four spindles. With a four-spindle machining center, four workpieces are machined simultaneously. These machines are increasingly used for the production of large series. If the workpieces are milled from a solid material, the raw material is usually held in two universal central clamping tools. This means that the effort required for format changeover is very low, since the same spindle is used for all part variants.
Complex geometries that require complex machining can now be machined with multiple spindles. Simultaneous 5-axis machining on multiple multi-spindle machining centers is also possible and has proven successful today. For complex castings (aluminum or steel), machining usually takes several minutes or even several hours. Therefore, production with multi-spindle machining centers makes it possible to significantly increase throughput depending on the area required by the machine.
This is where used universal machining centers machines help to improve your production. They are very affordable and readily available.
With used universal machining centers, your company can quickly respond to changing production needs at a fraction of the cost of new equipment.
